On a request made by Honorable minister of Budddha Sasana Dr. Wijedasa Rajapaksa Sri Lanka China Buddhist Friendship Association with the financial assistance of Jing Ci Temple, Hangzhou, China, will construct a plant to provide purified drinking water to needy villages of Wahamalgollewa in Rambewa. This plant will supply 5000 Ltrs, of purified drinking water per day.
In certain areas of Sri Lanka, villages have been hard-hit by phenomena such as the present Chronic Kidney Disease now faced in rural Sri Lanka. With the temple being the forum where the villagers raise their issues with external parties, there have been many cries for assistance by needy village temples to address this issue of water purification due to lack of much needed funds.
While the temple is not the sole beneficiary in any assistance provided and the villagers obtain much needed basic amenities such as clean drinking water, any financial or other support extended through the temples will help cement the bonds between the two parties rendering much yeomen service to Buddhism and its way of life.
Bodhirukharamaya Temple at Wahamalgollewa at Rambewa in Anuradhpaura District is one such Buddhist vihara in an area affected and in need of means of water purification. It lies in a locality we have identified patients suffering from Kidney Disease where we confident of a most significant contribution to the health of villagers, by our intervention through the temple.

This the second project organized by the Sri Lanka China Buddhist Friendship Association to assist villagers undergoing hardships due to non-availability of drinking water.
