” Seth pirith Pinkama” was held on Saturday 15 th February 2020 at Abeyaragiriya Raja Maha vihara西固城无畏山 in the ancient city of Anuradhapura to invoke blessings for Coronavirus affected Chinese people presided by Ven. Dr kalanchiye Rathanasiri Thero – Chief Incumbent of Abhayagiri Viharaya with the Participation of over fifty monks organized by Sri Lanka China Buddhist Friendship Association.

Before the commencement of Pirith Pinkama Ven Dr Kallanchiye Rathnasiri thero spoke in Chinese and blessed after Chinese people reminiscing strong Buddhist links between Sri Lanka and China.

At this Seth Pirith ceremony, Buddhist priests chanted Bojanga Piritha to invoke blessings to affected people at the very ancient temple, where 1608 years back famous Chinese Buddhist traveler Fa Shien monk lived for two years made a historic record of the Buddhist civilization and customs in ancient Sri Lanka and thereafter travel back to China.

Ven. Dr Rathanasiri Thero read for his doctorate studies in the Wuhan University and he spoke about the warm hospitality extended to him during his study period in China and number of projects conducted by Buddhists of China through Sri Lanka China Buddhist Friendship Association (SLCBFA)to strengthened ancient ties between Sri Lanka and China.

Today’s program was attended by Mayor of Anuradhapura , District Secretary and Mr Jayalath , Snr Deputy Inspector General of Police Anurdhapura and 50 Buddhist priests chanted Pirith . Mr Sumathi Dharmawardena President’s Counsel, Hon President of SLCBFA , Mr Aruna Silva General Secretary and a large number of SLCBFA members attended the chanting of Seth Pirith .
